Plastic Tank Failure
This is a Case tractor radiator that has come into Muirs Radiators. The client said that is was leaking. Sure enough when we tested it we found that the top tank has split down the middle. Now this can be caused by a number of things but most commonly either the pressure cap has failed or the radiator is old and has been through a lot of work.Whenever this happens we need to replace the tank. For this type of radiator, supplying a new plastic tank is more expensive then manufacturing and fitting an alluminium tank.
Aluminium tanks are more durable and can withstand more wear and tear. We manufacture new alluminium tanks and weld them onto the radiator core.
These photos are of the case tractor radiator before and after. You will also see the crack in the plastic tank.
